THIS SEASON: Ashworth Molthen enters his second season of competition at USC.
2021 SEASON:Â
• Scored 22 goals in his first season at USC
• Named to ACWPC All-America Third Team
• Selected to NCAA All-Tournament First Team
• Earned All-MPSF Second Team honors
• Scored in 11 games with seven multiple-goal outings
• Recorded four hat tricks, including one in the NCAA title match
• First career goal as a Trojan came vs. Stanford on Sept. 25
2020 SEASON:Â
• After transferring from UCLA, did not compete for USC in the 2020-21 season
• Instead, competed overseas and trained with the U.S. National Team
• Competed for Primorac in Montenegro, scoring 30 goals across all competition
• Helped lead Primorac to a runner-up finish in the Montenegro League and a spot in the Final 8 of the LEN Euro Cup
2019 SEASON AT UCLA:Â
• UCLA’s second leading scorer with 38 goals as a sophomore
• Named to All-MPSF First Team
• Scored in 19 games with 13 multiple-goal outings
• Set new career high with four goals in win over UC Irvine on Oct. 27
• Was the MPSF leader in assists with 46
• Also had 21 steals.
2018 SEASON AT UCLA:Â
• Earned All-America Honorable Mention as a freshman
• Third on the team in scoring with 32 goals
• Scored in 19 games, with 10 multiple-goal outings
• Set career-high with three goals vs. Brown on Sept. 9
• Led the Bruins in assists (37) and field blocks (15) and was second in steals (19)
HIGH SCHOOL: Molthen was a four-time All-CIF and all-league honoree out of Orange Lutheran High, where he holds the school record for career goals, assists and field blocks… Named to OC Register All-County First Team in 2017... As a senior, scored 87 goals with 78 assists and 55 steals… Named 2016 CIF, league and OC Varsity Water Polo player of the year after leading OLU to its first-ever CIF-SS title … Registered 74 goals and 74 assists as a junior… A three-time first-team All-CIF-SS Division I selection… Played club for Northwood Water Polo Club.
NATIONAL TEAMS: Molthen is a member of the U.S. Men’s National Team... Competed for Team USA at the 2017 FINA Junior World Championships.
PERSONAL: Molthen is majoring in political science... Parents are Teri and Marty... Has one brother, Wedge... His mother went to pharmacy school at USC...
