No. 1 USC Men’s Water Polo Advances into NCAA Semifinals

PALO ALTO, Calif. - The No. 1 USC Men's water polo team cruised past Concordia-Irvine 16-6 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday afternoon.
The top seeded Trojans found themselves in a battle in the first half as the underdog Golden Eagles led 3-2 midway through the first quarter. USC scored the final four goals of the half though and led 6-3 at the break. In the second half, the Trojan offense came alive, scoring 10 goals en route to 16-6 victory.
Luke Nelson led the way offensively with a hat trick. Jack Martin, Gavin Conant and Mihailo Vukazic each scored two goals and Efe Naipoglu led the team with two assists. Charlie Mills and Bernando Herzer played a half in goal apiece, each allowing three goals and combining for 10 saves.
Up next for USC will be the NCAA Tournament semifinals. They will play the winner between Fordham and San Jose State. The game will take place Saturday (Dec. 6) at 2pm and will be streamed live on NCAA.com
