2022: Kobrine will compete for a starting role at outside hitter or opposite hitter, and might also see time at setter, as a graduate student at USC after transferring from UCLA in the summer of 2021.
UCLA: He made 2021 AVCA All-American honorable mention and All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first team while starting all 21 matches as a senior setter at UCLA ... He led the Bruins in assists (827) and digs (136) in 2021 and he also had 59 kills (hitting .303), 13 aces and 38 blocks in 2021 ... As a junior in 2020, he saw action in 15 matches at setter, opposite hitter and outside hitter (with 5 starts) ... He had 151 assists, 37 digs, 25 kills (hitting .224), 11 blocks and 5 aces in 2020 ... He played in 19 matches (with 13 starts) as a 2019 sophomore at outside hitter, getting 130 kills (hitting .212), 80 digs, 22 blocks and 13 aces ... He appeared in 16 matches off the bench as a 2018 redshirt freshman, with 6 kills, 2 aces and 1 block ... He redshirted as a first-year freshman in 2017.
HIGH SCHOOL: He was a 2016 prep All-American as a senior at Corona del Mar (Calif.) High, where he also was All-CIF Division 1 and the Daily Pilot Player of the Year that season ... Corona del Mar was the CIF runner-up in 2015 and 2016 (and the state runner-up in 2016) ... He also played basketball at Corona del Mar ... Current Trojans Brandon Browning and Adam Flood also prepped at Corona del Mar.
PERSONAL: He was a member of the 2021 USA Volleyball Men's National Team at the NORCECA Continental Championship that finished fifth ...He played for the 949 Volleyball Club, helping the team win the gold medal at the 2014 USA Volleyball Boys Junior National Championships (and a silver in 2013 and bronze in 2015) .... He made the all-tournament teams in 2014 and 2015 ... He was a member of the 2015 USA Youth National Training Team ... He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from UCLA in 2021 and is working on a master’s degree in social entrepreneurship at USC ... He made the UCLA Athletic Director’s Honor Roll in the spring of 2017 and falls of 2018 and 2019 ...
