Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Madison Whyte is in her second season as a sprinter on the USC track and field team. She is the freshman record-holder in the indoor 200m and ranks sixth on USC's all-time list.in the event, as well as seventh on USC's all-time indoor 400m list and fourth and ninth on USC's all-time indoor 4x400m list. She also ran on USC's seventh-fastest all-time outdoor 4x100m and 4x400m relays.
2024:  Whyte reached the NCAA semifinals in the 200m dash, finishing 12th with a time of 22.75 (+0.3) to earn second-team All-America honors. She was part of USC’s 4x400m relay which finished third at the NCAA quarterfinals with a time of 3:27.28, good for seventh on the Trojans’ all-time list.  She placed third in the 200m with a PR of 22.69 (+0.9) and third in the 400m with a time of 52.25 at the Pac-12 Championships on May 12. Whyte also ran the second leg for USC’s winning 4x100m relay which posted the seventh-fastest time in school history of 42.87 and the 4x400m relay which placed third with a time of 3:29.79 at the Pac-12 Championships on May 12.   She won the 400m (51.74) and took second in the 200m (23.05) at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28. After the season, she reached the semifinals in the 400m with a PR of 51.49 and the 200m with a time of 23.12 (+0.6) at the U.S. Olympic Trials on Jun 22. Indoors, Whyte earned second-team All-American honors by placing ninth at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the 200m dash with a PR of 20.90 which set the USC freshman record and ranks sixth on the Trojans’ all-time list…she also earned first-team All-America honors in the 4x400m relay as she anchored USC to a second-place finish with a time of 3:27.62, the fourth-fastest indoor time in school history. Whyte anchored USC to a 4x400m relay time of 3:28.84 at the Razorback Invitational on Jan. 27th, the ninth-fastest relay in school history. She ran an indoor 400m PR of 52.16 to take second at the Ken Shannon Last Chance Meet on Jan. 24…that time moved her to seventh on USC’s all-time indoor 400m list. She set her 60m dash PR of 7.31 in placing third at the Spokane Sports Showcase on Jan. 12.Â
HIGH SCHOOL: Whyte is a 2023 graduate of Heritage High in Newport News, Va. where she posted PRs of 11.39 in the 100m, a state-record 22.81 in the 200m and 52.49 in the 400m. She ran her second 52.49 400m dash of the season to place third at the USATF U20 Championships. She was the 2022 and 2023 Virginia Girls Gatorade Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Whyte swept the 100m, 200m and 400m titles at the 2023 Virginia Class 4 State Meet to help lead Heritage High to a share of the state team title. She also placed second in the 200m at the 2023 New Balance Nationals. She is the only Virginia high school girl to rank in the state’s top 2 all-time in the 100m, 200m and 400m. She was a National Honor Society student and National Technical Honor Society Ambassador.
PERSONAL: Madison was born on October 17, 2004…Her parents are Cynthia and Wayne Whyte and she has two siblings, Aiden and Dominique…Her hobbies include listening to music, reading and hanging out with family and friends…Her favorite entertainers are J. Cole, Nicki Minaj and Zendaya and her favorite movie is The Barbie Movie and favorite television show is American Horror Story…Says her favorite food is jerk/curry chicken…Someday would like to travel to Italy…Her goal after USC is to be successful enough to spoil her parents…She is a Pharmacology & Drug Development major at USC.
