THIS YEAR: Graduate student Kaelin Roberts is in her final season on the USC track and field team, focusing on the 400m and relays. She is the USC freshman record-holder in the outdoor 400m dash and ranks second on the Trojans' all-time list in the event. She ranks second on USC's indoor 400m list. She also has run on USC's second-fastest outdoor 4x400m relay and on the second-fastest indoor 4x400m relay.
2021: Set a PR and ran the second-fastest 400m time of 50.82 to finish third in the NCAA quarterfinals to advance to the NCAA Championships. She placed 15th at the NCAA Championships in the 400m with a time of 52.39. She also placed second as part of USC's 4x400m relay which ran the second-fastest time in school history in the NCAA final. Originally set her 400m record of 51.14 to win the USC-UCLA Dual Meet. Indoors, she placed second in the 400m and ran on USC's winning 4x400m relay at the NCAAChampionships.
2020: Took second in the 400m to teammate Bailey Lear with a time of 52.06 at the MPSF Championships. Also ran on the MPSF Championship 4x400m relay which won with a time of 3:29.92, the sixth-fastest time in USC indoor history.
2019: Was limited again due to leg injuries, but still had a big sophomore campaign. She set her 200m PR of 22.97 (-0.4) in winning at the Power 5 Challenge. She set her 400m PR of 51.25 two win the Pac-12 title and now ranks fourth on USC's all-time outdoor 400m list. She reached the NCAA quarterfinals in the 400m, but had to pull out of the meet due to injury. She rehabbed in time to run anchor for USC's 4x400m relay at the NCAA Championships which placed eighth. She won the NCAA indoor 400m title with a PR of 51.50 and moved into second on USC's all-time indoor list.
2018: Roberts was hampered by a leg injury during her first season, but it didn't stop her from breaking Kendall Ellis' freshman school record in the 400m dash. She broke the USC freshman record for the first time in her second race of the season, placing fourth with a time of 51.99 at the Mt. SAC Relays. She then lowered the record to 51.33 in placing third in the 400m at the Pac-12 Championships...that time moved her to third on USC's all-time list in the event. She also ran on USC's winning 4x400m relay which won the conference title with a time of 3:30.45. Roberts ran in one indoor race, running the leadoff leg for the NCAA champion 4x400m relay team which posted a time of 3:27.45 to capture the title, the second-fastest time in school history and fourth all-time by an indoor collegiate quartet.
HIGH SCHOOL: Roberts graduated from Carson High School in 2017. She won the 2017 L.A. City CIF 200m and 400m titles, as well as running a leg on the winning 4x100m relay. She won the 2016 CIF state 400m title with a PR of 52.28, her second California state title in the event. Her time was the third-fastest in the country by a high school athlete in 2016. She went undefeated in the 400m as a junior and was named to the USA Today All-USA Girls Track & Field first team. She was also named the Daily Breeze All-Area Girls Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Roberts has wind-legal bests of 11.57 in the 100m and 23.52 in the 200m.
PERSONAL: Kaelin was born on January 6, 1999 to Michael and Mechell Roberts... She has one older brother, Darrell . She is from Long Beach, California . She has been running track since she was 6 years old. She enjoys listening to music ranging for old school and new school r&b and and hip hop , dancing, as well as listening to any podcast with Inky Johnson in it on her free time. She loves watching Marvel movies or shows as well as any horror film or television show .She currently is majoring in Communications at USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism with a minor in Occupational Science.
