• All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention
• In a shortened season, went went 3-0 overall in singles and 3-0 in dual matches
• Played at the No. 2 (3-0) position
• In doubles, went 6-3 overall and 6-3 in dual matches
• In doubles, played primarily with Frye at the No. 1 spot (4-2)
• Ranked as high as No. 45 with Frye in doubles but ended the season ranked No. 88
• Clinched one match for the Trojans (Idaho)
• Australian Open Junior singles runner up and boy's doubles champion
• Semifinalist at the French Open Juniors Singles Championship
• Captured the boys 18s Kalamazoo title for the second consecutive year (earning entry in the U.S. Junior Open)
HIGH SCHOOL/JUNIOR EXPERIENCE
USC men's tennis welcomed a midseason addition with the signing of Learner Tien ahead of Spring 2023. An accomplished competitor out of Irvine, Tien was the No. 1 rated recruit in his class by TennisRecruiting.Net.
Most recently, Tien won the boys doubles title at the 2023 Australian Open Junior Championships alongside his partner Cooper Williams. He was also a finalist in singles.
Blue Chip Recruit Tien won the 2022 USTA Boy's 18s Singles National Championship in Kalamazoo and carries with him one pro doubles title. With a UTR rating of 13.54, a career high ITF junior ranking of #35 and current ATP singles ranking of #862, Tien looks to be a major contributor for Troy this upcoming spring.
At just 16, Tien won the 2022 USTA Boys 18s National Championship, which earned him a wildcard into the main draw of the 2022 US Open. The win earned him the title of youngest player to compete in the men's US Open singles draw since 2005. He was also the first 16-year-old to compete in the event since 2019.
Tien also brings with him an ITF Grade 1 International Open Title (San Diego) and Junior Wimbledon (reached QF's) experience.
