THIS SEASON: Danny Ochoa is a 2017 senior in his final year with the Trojans and figures to resume his role as a key reserve.
2016: Ochoa played in one tournament as a 2016 junior, tying for 46th at the Farms Collegiate Invitational at 17-over 223 (82-74-77).
2015: Ochoa, as a 2015 sophomore, played in four events, starting twice, and finished with a stroke average of 74.50. His season was highlighted by a tie for 44th at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate at 8-over 218 (74-72-72). He carded a season-low 70 in the Bill Cullum Invitational first round en route to a tie for 49th at 5-over 221 (70-76-75).
2014: Ochoa played in four events as a 2014 freshman and finished with a stroke average of 74.58 ... In the fall, Ochoa tied for 13th at the Kikkor Invitational at 5-over 218 (75-70-73) and tied for 50th at the U.S. Collegiate Championship. He also played at the Amer Ari Invitational (113th) and the Western Intercollegiate (74th tie) ... Highlights in summer action included winning a qualifier for the California State Open with a 64, making the the cut at the Open with a 144 and finishing in the top 25 at the Long Beach City Amateur.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ochoa prepped at Torrey Pines High in San Diego where he was a teammate of fellow Trojan Bobby Gojuangco ... Ochoa, ranked No. 12 in the AJGA's Polo Golf rankings after graduating high school and played in the 2013 Wyndham Cup in one of the nation's top junior events, helping his West team defeat the East. He also took first at the AJGA Winn Grips Heather Farr Classic at 205 (71-68-66) ... He was named the 2012 San Diego Junior Boys Golfer of the Year. He finished third at the 2012 Golfweek West Coast Junior Invitational, won the 2011 California State High School Championships - helping his squad to the team title as well -- and the FCG Callaway Season Championships and tied for fifth in the 2010 Callaway Junior Worlds.
