Brendan Wheeler is in his second season with the Trojans as a graduate assistant while finishing up his master’s in Gerontology. His duties include assisting the coaching staff with opponent scouting reports and video edits, on-court player development, aiding preparation of on-campus recruiting visits, and facilitating video exchange with opponents.

Prior to his arrival at USC, Wheeler spent three years as Men’s Assistant Coach at Moorpark College (2014-2017). In 2016, the Moorpark Men's basketball team won the Western State Conference Championship, its first since 2007, and clinched a berth in the CCCAA Playoffs, also first since 2007. In that same season, the team earned CCCAA Scholar Team of the Year Honors, as well as Western State Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Wheeler began his coaching journey at the high school ranks serving as Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, CA. He was the Junior Varsity Coach for five seasons (2005-2010) and a Varsity Boys Assistant Coach for four seasons (2010-2014). During his tenure at Bishop Alemany the program had its most successful stretch in school history. The 2014 team reached the CIF DI quarterfinals, while the 2012 team was the CIF D3 State Champions, the CIF D3 Regional Champions and the CIF D3A Section Champions, all firsts in school history. The Alemany staff was named the Coaching Staff of the Year by the L.A. Times. The 2010 and 2011 teams also advanced to the CIF playoffs. Wheeler coached 15 future collegiate basketball players in his four seasons.

Wheeler earned his Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology from California State University Northridge in 2010, and earned his Maters of Arts degree in Kinesiology from Fresno Pacific University in 2016.
Wheeler, 31, is a Southern California native and is married to the former Taleia Gilliam and resides in Granada Hills, CA.
