THIS YEAR:
Graduate student Marina Soares is in her first season as a distance runner on the USC track and field and cross country teams. She graduated from LMU in 2023 with a degree in Communication Studies and Screenwriting.Â

BEFORE USC: Soares competed in cross country and track and field for LMU from 2019-23. In cross country she set her 6K PR of 22:34.00 at the Bronco Invitational on Oct. 15, 2022 and her 5K best of 19.41.8 at the Titan Invitational on Oct. 25, 2019. In track, she set her 800m PR with a time of 2:16.46 to place fifth at the 2023 West Coast Relays on March 31. She posted a 1500m PR of 4:41.12 to finish 35th at the 2023 Bryan Clay Invitational on April 15. Her 5000m personal best is 17:44.07 which she ran in finishing 21st at the Steve Scott Invitational on April 28.

Soares is a 2019 graduate of Granite Bay High School in Granite Bay, Calif. Her high school 800m PR of 2:20.61 ranks fifth on Granite Bay’s all-time list. She also had a 1600m personal best of 5:19.95.

Marina was born on February 27, 2001…She likes to surf in her spare time…Her favorite comedian is John Mulaney, favorite move is Secret Life of Walter Mitty and favorite musical artist is Remi Wolf…Soares is working on a Master’s in Digital Media Management at USC.
