Kayleigh Amber Heckel was born July 8, 2006 in Greenwich, Conn.... The daughter of Donna and Walter Heckel... Has two older brothers: Corey and Tyler... Her mother played softball at St. John's... Her father played baseball at St. John's and in the minor leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays... Her grandfather and great grandfather —Walter Heckel Jr. and Walter Heckel Sr. — both played minor league baseball... Her grandfather, Rico Dos Anjos, played basketball at LIU and in the Eastern Pennsylvania Professional League, and he is in the Archbishop Stepanic High Hall of Fame... Lists winning FIBA U18 AmeriCup gold with Team USA Says being named a McDonald's All-American have been her most thrilling sports moments... Enjoys spending time with her family, watching sports, baking and playing baseball, softball and volleyball in her free time... Hopes to win Big Ten and NCAA championships and play professionally after college... Lists Sue Bird as her biggest sports hero...
