AT USC:
Reika Kijima begins her first season of running cross country for USC. Kijima transferred to USC after two successful season of running cross country and track and field at Azusa Pacific.
BEFORE USC: Kijima was an All-PacWest first team performer who posted top-10 individual finishes in a pair of races, including her fourth-place finish at the PacWest Championship to help lead Azusa Pacific to its second consecutive cross country title....Her time at that meet was 17:52.1 to place her 12th on the APU all-time list...She followed that up by placing 11th at the NCCAA Championships with a time of 18:44.67 to earn All-America honors...In track, Kijima set an 800m PR with a time of 2:12.55 at the Cal-Nevada Championships on April 4, 2014 and a 1500m PR of 4:34.19 at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 18, 2014...She won the 1500m race with a time of 4:40.28 and the 800m race with a time of 2:15.52 at the 2014 NCCAA Championships to help Azusa to a second-place finish. Was named the PacWest Scholar Athlete of the Year.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Kijima is a 2012 graduate of Ojai Valley School in Ojai, Calif...She placed ninth in the CIF Southern Section 1600m finals as a senior with a time of 5:17.97.
PERSONAL:
Reika was born on February 2, 1994 in Yokohama, Japan...Her parents are Mumei and Yasuko Kijima and she has one sibling, Hosei....Reika is an International Relations major at USC...Her goal after USC is to help improve the relationship between Japan and the U.S...Lists her sports heroes as Allyson Felix and Jordan Hasay...Her hobbies include exploring coffee shops, playing basketball and board games...Is a Fellowship of Christian Athletes Huddle leader...Says her favorite television shows are 24 and The Big Bang Theory and her favorite musical group is Disclosure...Would like to travel to Europe and the South Pacific.
