Bio
THIS SEASON: Kate Polich, a 2008 senior, has continued to improve as a freestyler, from sprints to distance, and hopes to be a major dual meet and postseason factor in her final year with the team.
2007: As a 2007 junior, Polich was 34th in the 100y free, 43rd in the 500y free (5:06.30) and 46th in the 200y free (1:53.45) at the 2007 Pac-10 Championships ... She was a 2007 Pac-10 All-Academic selection for the second year in a row.
2006: Polich competed in three events at the 2006 Pac-10 Championships as a 2006 sophomore, taking 30th in the 200y free (1:52.44), 34th in the 500y free (5:01.78) and 38th in the 100y free (52.62, personal best). She posted personal bests in the 50y and 200y free as well ... She was a 2006 Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention selection.
2005: Polich raced in three events at the 2005 Pac-10 Championships, finishing 28th in the 200y free (1:53.01), 30th in the 100y free (52.65) and 37th in the 50y free (24.52). She was USC[apos]s top finisher in the 50y and 100y freestyles at the conference meet.
HIGH SCHOOL: A prep All-American at Catalina Foothills High, she helped her school to four 4A state team titles and was a five-time relay state title winner ... Also holds five school records in the free and fly ... Received the Scholastic All-American Award from USA Swimming in 2003 and 2004 ... Was a member of National Honors Society and French Honors Society and received the Presidential Award for outstanding academic excellence all four years in school.
PERSONAL: She was born on Sept. 27, 1986, and majors in business.
