Trojans Drop Heartbreaker to Texas State in Regional Opener

USC rallied to break a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the eighth, but Texas State got a two-run homer in the ninth to win it. The Trojans will face Lamar on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. CT in an elimination game.
Adrian Lopez had the go-ahead homer for USC in the bottom of the eighth, hitting a solo-shot to right with two outs in the inning. It was the second of two homers on the day for the Trojans as Abbrie Covarrubias also had one in the fourth.
Chase Mora hit the game-winning homer for Texas State as the Bobcats also had two long balls in the game. Brady Boles tied the game with a two-run homer in the fifth after Covarrubias' shot put USC up 3-1 prior to that.
