Reese Robinson and Emma Bunting each secured hat tricks in a road win over the Chippewas
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The USC lacrosse team (7-8) defeated Central Michigan (2-11) by a 15-4 count in a nonconference game at CMU Lacrosse Complex on Monday, April 6.

- Jr. attacker Reese Robinson led the Trojans with five points as she tied her career high with four goals including one from free position (one assist) for her third hat trick of the season. She also had a pair of ground balls.
- Jr. attacker Emma Bunting scored three goals for her fourth hat trick this season (seventh career), caused a pair of turnovers, and picked up a ground ball.
- Fr. midfielder Sydney Stewart caused three turnovers and picked up three ground balls and scored a goal.
- So. attacker Vivian Leuthold scored a pair of goals—one from free position—and picked up a ground ball.
- Jr. midfielder Anna Regan secured eight draw controls.
- So. midfielder Skylar May scored one goal, nabbed a pair of draw controls, and caused two turnovers.
- Fr. midfielder Jenna Lundstedt grabbed two ground balls, a pair of draw controls, and caused a turnover.
- For the Chippewas, Anna Farrar and Kelsey Barratt each scored two goals apiece. In goal, Leila Kahler had 13 saves and secured five ground balls.
- USC out-shot Central Michigan, 35-14, and won the center circle by a 13-7 count in draw controls. The Trojans also had a big edge in ground balls, 24-13, and took seven free-position shots. In all, nine different Trojans scored goals in the win.
- The Trojans came out and took control immediately as Bunting scored first (13:39) off a dish from Robinson. By the time the first quarter ended, Bunting had two goals and Robinson netted a hat trick (four goals) as part of a 7-0 outburst. The Trojans outshot the Chippewas, 12-1, in the opening frame and capitalized on seven CMU turnovers.
- In order, Kaylee Fravert, Bunting, Casey Roberts, and Hannah Barron scored goals in the second quarter to put the Trojans in front, 11-0. For Bunting, the hat trick went into the books on an unassisted goal with 11:01 to play. Central Michigan scored to snap the 11-0 run with under a minute to halftime.
- In the third, both teams went scoreless for the first half of the quarter until Farrar scored her second of the day at 7:30. Leuthold had the response with 4:46 left in the frame to push the score to 12-2 for a running Trojan clock heading into the fourth. USC scored three more in the fourth—one each from May, Stewart, and Leuthold—to make it 15-3 before the Chippewas put a fourth goal on the board to finish, 15-4.Â
- USC will host Ohio State (7-6, 2-4 Big Ten) on Saturday (April 11) at Rawlinson Stadium for Senior Day. The Trojans and the Buckeyes will meet for first draw at 1 p.m. PT and be shown live on Big Ten Plus. Senior Day ceremonies are scheduled to begin at approximately 12:50 p.m.
- USC and Central Michigan met for the first time.
- The Trojans improved to 3-4 in road games this season and moved to 2-2 in games played in the state of Michigan.
- The Women of Troy snapped a six-game losing streak.
- USC won a game by a double-digit margin for the 60th time, its second this spring (+10 vs. San Diego State, March 4).
