No. 10 USC Women's Tennis Wraps Up Road Trip With 4-1 Win Over Illinois

Trojans top Illinois 4-1 in Champaign-Urbana, Ill.
URBANA, Ill. – No. 10 USC women's tennis wrapped up its Big Ten road swing with a 4-1 win over Illinois on Sunday at Atkins Tennis Center, pushing its win streak to five matches.
The Trojans (17-5, 10-1) were forced to rally after dropping the doubles point for the first time in several matches. Illinois claimed courts three and one to take the early 1-0 lead, despite a 6-4 win from Immi Haddad and Emma Charney on court two.
USC responded emphatically in singles, winning four straight matches to secure the victory. No. 125 Eugenia Zozaya evened the score with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 win on court three, and Haddad followed with a 6-0, 7-6 (3) victory on court two to give the Trojans their first lead of the day.
Krisha Mahendran extended the advantage with a 6-4, 6-3 win on court five, setting the stage for the clinch. It was No. 21 Jana Hossam who sealed the match in a battle on court one, taking down No. 47 McKenna Schaefbauer 6-3, 3-6, 6-1.
Two matches went unfinished, including a tight contest on court four featuring No. 51 Emma Charney.
With the win, USC completes a perfect weekend on the road and strengthens its position atop the Big Ten standings as the regular season nears its conclusion.
