Trojans win doubles point and five singles matches to beat the Beavers.
LOS ANGELES – USC men's tennis delivered a strong all-around performance at Marks Tennis Stadium on Sunday, defeating Wisconsin, 6-1, to cap the weekend on a high note.
With the win, USC improves to 12-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.Â
The Trojans set the tone early by securing the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The duo of Andrin Casanova and Jack McCarthy cruised to a 6-1 victory, while Max Exsted and Nathan Trouve followed with a 6-3 win to give USC the opening 1-0 advantage.
In singles play, USC won five of six matches, showcasing depth across the lineup. Jack McCarthy extended the lead with a 6-2, 7-5 win at the No. 5 spot, and Connor Church followed with a 6-3, 7-5 victory on court six. Nathan Trouve picked up a ranked win over No. 75 Michael Minasyan, 7-5, 6-3, while Andrin Casanova added another straight-set win, 7-6(4), 6-3. Max Exsted battled through a pair of tight tiebreakers to close out his match in straight sets, sealing the Trojans' fifth singles point. Wisconsin's lone point came at the top spot, where Branko Djuric fell in a pair of close tiebreak sets.
With the win, USC continues to build momentum at home, earning a statement victory over a ranked Big Ten opponent behind a balanced effort in both doubles and singles play.
