Trojans seek bounce-back win at Marks Tennis Stadium.
LOS ANGELES — USC men's tennis looks to bounce back this week as the Trojans return home to Marks Tennis Stadium for a pair of Big Ten match ups against Nebraska and Wisconsin.
The Trojans check in at No. 31 in the latest ITA team rankings and carry a 10-4 overall record into the weekend as they look to regain momentum in conference play. Most recently, the Trojans came up short against crosstown rival UCLA, suffering a 4-1 setback.
Nebraska (9-6) makes its first-ever trip to Marks Tennis Stadium for the second all-time meeting between the programs. The Cornhuskers claimed the only previous match up, taking a 4-2 decision last season. Nebraska is coming off a ranked win over Northwestern and is led by No. 81 Nikolay Sysoev in singles play. First serve against the Cornhuskers on Friday is scheduled for 3 p.m. PT.
Wisconsin (11-3) enters the weekend ranked No. 30 nationally and will face UCLA before making the trip across town to Marks Stadium. Despite a recent loss to Illinois, the Badgers have been one of the Big Ten's most consistent teams this season, led by No. 75 Michael Minasyan in singles. USC, however, holds a 5-0 advantage in the all-time series against Wisconsin and will look to maintain the unblemished record. First serve against the Badgers on Sunday is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT.
The Trojans will lean on their doubles tandem of No. 68 Andrin Casanova and Jack McCarthy, currently USC's lone ranked pairing, as they aim to secure early momentum in both matches.
With conference play heating up, the weekend presents a key opportunity for USC to protect home court and gain ground in the Big Ten standings.
