No. 12 USC Baseball Run-Rules Northwestern, 15-1

EVANSTON, Ill. – The No. 12 USC baseball team hit four home runs to take down Northwestern, 15-1, in seven innings on Friday afternoon in Evanston, moving to 18-0 on the season.
USC had 13 hits and also got another stellar performance on the mound from Mason Edwards to move to 4-0 in Big Ten play. Northwestern falls to 6-8-1 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
Abbrie Covarrubias and Adrian Lopez each hit two-run homers in the third inning as USC would score in each of the last five frames to pick up their third run-rule victory of the season. Lopez finished with three hits and four RBI, falling just a double short of a cycle.
Andrew Lamb homered in the fourth and Richard Tejeda homered in the fifth. Tejeda's two-run shot in the fifth was part of a six-run innings for USC. Lamb has now homered in three straight games.
Edwards tossed 6.0 innings, giving up three hits and just his first run of the season on a wind-aided home run to center. Edwards struck out 10 batters and walked just one. Through five starts on the year, he now owns a 0.30 ERA, with 52 strikeouts and 11 walks.
Four Trojans had multiple hits and RBI in the game. Lopez's four RBI led the way, followed by Tejeda with three, and Covarrubias and Kevin Takeuchi with two.
Henry Chabot set the side down in order in the seventh to end the game.
