USC Baseball No-Hits Pepperdine in 11-0 Run-Rule Victory
February 14, 2026 | Baseball
LOS ANGELES – The USC baseball team no-hit Pepperdine in a seven-inning run-rule victory on Saturday night at Dedeaux Field, getting six hitless innings from Grant Govel in the 11-0 win.
Govel kept Pepperdine off the scoreboard and out of the hit column, allowing just one walk while striking out 10 batters. The contest ended in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a two-run homer from Andrew Lamb that made it 11-0 and triggered the run rule (10 run lead after seven innings). The victory moves USC to 2-0, while Pepperdine falls to 0-2.
A night after picking up a 3-1 win on three hits, USC pounded out 11 hits on Saturday night, getting homers from Lamb and Dean Carpentier. Kevin Takeuchi drove in four runs on three hits in the game.
The Trojans took a 2-0 lead into the fifth, but broke it open with four runs in the fifth and five in the seventh. Carpentier's solo homer in the fifth got the inning started and was the first home run in the new Dedeaux Field.
Govel was masterful from the start, working around a walk in the first to retire 11 straight batters. A hit-by-pitch was the only other baserunner allowed as the sophomore righty struck out five in a row at one point on his way to a career high 10 punchouts.
Cameron Fausset threw a scoreless top of the seventh inning before USC ended it in the bottom half of the frame.
