USC Track and Field Set to Compete at Stan Scott Invite

The Trojans look to build on their success at the Spokane Sports Showcase
LUBBOCK, TEXAS – After an impressive showing at last week's season opener at the Spokane Showcase, the USC Track and Field team is headed to Texas to compete in the Stan Scott Invite on Friday.
A total of 31 athletes are expected to compete for the Trojans. On the men's side, Cordial Vann, Edward Nketia, Garrett Kaalund, Nickolas Miller, Jaelen Knox, Ethan Exilhomme, Kaden Garland, Chase McCallum, William Jones, Jack Stadlman, Jacob Andrews, Wiaan Martin, Emmett Mack, Lincoln Marschall, Gus Armstrong, JC Stevenson, and Jackson Norris are all expected to compete.
On the women's side, athletes expected to compete are Mackenna Barnett, Anisa Bowen-Fontenot, Nonah Waldron, Asjah Atkinson, Dajaz DeFrand, Rachael Uvieghara, Olivia Pace, Brianna Selby, Mia Brahe-Pedersen, Ashley Erasmus, Oluwatosin Awoleye, Christine M. Mallard, Takiya Cenci, Joelle Trepagnier, Madison Whyte, Jordan Washington, Kailyn Head, and Avery Lewis.
LAST TIME OUT
At the Spokane Sports Showcase, the USC Track and Field Team won eight events, including the women's 60m, women's 300m, men's 300m, women's 800, men's 800m, women's shot put, men's long jump and men's high jump. Garrett Kaalund had a standout performance, as he won the men's 300m, tying the second-fastest time in NCAA history. Momentum carried over to the Women of Troy who dominated in the 60m, with all seven competitors advancing to the finals and claiming the top five spots. Adding to this success, five Trojans set personal records in their respective events.
LAST SEASON
At the NCAA Indoor Championships, the men's team won the national title for the first time since the 1972 season, winning as a team with no event champions. The women's team placed third for the first time since their second-place finish in 2019. Dajaz DeFrand led the women, winning the women's 60m dash title with a PR and facility-record time of 7.09.
Indoor All-Americans from the 2025 season returning for the 2026 season include Dajaz DeFrand, Elias Gerald, William Jones, Garrett Kaalund, Christine M. Mallard, JC Stevenson, Madison Whyte, Jacob Andrews and Nonah Waldron.
At the Big Ten Indoor Championships, the men placed second while the women's team came in third. Returners Dajaz DeFrand (60m), JC Stevenson (60m) and William Jones (400m) each won the Big Ten title for their respective events.
