No. 19 USC Women's Tennis Prepped For Pair of Desert Duals

Women of Troy to face Arizona State, Arizona this weekend.
LOS ANGELES – No. 19 USC women's tennis hits the road for the first time this season as the Trojans travel to Arizona for a pair of desert duals this Holiday weekend. On Sunday, Jan. 18, USC will play ASU in Tempe at 12 p.m. PT, before traveling to Tucson for a Monday, Jan. 19 noon p.m. PT match against Arizona.
Earlier this week, the Women of Troy opened the spring season with a pair of victories, defeating UC Santa Barbara, 4-1, and Loyola Marymount, 4-0, in a doubleheader Tuesday, Jan. 13 at David X. Marks Tennis Stadium.
The Women of Troy hit the road this weekend and will not return to Marks Stadium until mid-march, as the beginning of the Trojans' spring campaign is packed with road work.
USC enters the spring ranked No. 19 after a highly successful fall campaign that showcased both veteran leadership and promising newcomers. Five Trojans appeared in the ITA Fall Singles Rankings, led by No. 12 Emma Charney and No. 16 Jana Hossam, while Eugenia Zozaya (No. 62), Krisha Mahendran (No. 74) and Immi Haddad (No. 95) also earned national recognition. In doubles, USC's pair of Lily Fairclough and Dani Borruelchecked in at No. 6, while Mahendran and Hossam snagged the No. 51 spot.
The Trojans made a major impact at the NCAA Fall Individual Championships, with six players qualifying across singles and doubles competition (tied for the most in the country). Jana Hossam delivered one of the program's top performances of the fall, advancing to the NCAA Singles Semifinals, while the doubles team of Lily Fairclough and Dani Borruel matched that feat with a run to the NCAA Doubles Semifinals. Emma Charneyadded to USC's postseason success by reaching the NCAA Singles Round of 16.

Arizona State (0-0) is currently unranked and opening play on Saturday, Jan. 17 against UC Davis and GCU before facing the Trojans on Sunday. Two Sun Devils appeared in the final fall ITA singles rankings - No. 42 Emilija Tverijonaite and No. 76 Vivian Ovrootsky.
SCOUTING ARIZONA:
Arizona is currently unranked and 2-0 overall. The Wildcats boast one ranked doubles team in No. 72 Haylee Conway and Zoya Chulak.
