USC's Antonio Safa Named Big Ten Golfer of the Week

LOS ANGELES – After winning the individual title at the Whirlwind Invitational to start the season, USC's Antonio Safa was named the Big Ten Golfer of the Week on Thursday.
Safa set a USC record with a 17-under-par 199 to lead the Trojans to the team title with a 52-under-par 812. He recorded 49 of 54 holes at or below par, highlighted by a tournament-leading 22 birdies, en route to his first career individual win.
His eight-under 64 in the first round of the tournament matched the fifth lowest single round in USC history. It was the first individual tournament title of the senior's career.
The last USC Big Ten Men's Golfer of the Week honoree was Jack Buchanan on Oct. 10, 2024. The Trojans next compete at the Tucker Intercollegiate in New Mexico, Sept. 19-20.
