USC Men’s Golf Earns Two Big Ten All-Conference Honors

The Trojans Gavin Aurilia was named All-Big Ten second team, Jack Buchanan was named to the All-Freshman team and Jaden Dumdumaya was given the team sportsmanship award
CHICAGO – USC men's golf senior Gavin Aurilia was selected as the first Trojan to be named to the All-Big Ten second team. Freshman Jack Buchanan earned a spot on the All-Freshman team, while freshman Jaden Dumdumaya was the Trojans' sportsmanship team honoree, the conference announced Thursday, May 1.
For the first time since 2021, USC will head to an NCAA regional. It was led by this group of all-conference honorees, as it won one tournament (Southern Dunes Invitational) and placed in the top five three times this season.
Aurilia earned his spot on the all-conference list after leading the squad in stroke average (71.6), rounds of par or better (20), rounds in the 60s (eight) and top ten finishes (two). The senior's season was highlighted by a runner-up finish at the Southern Dunes Invitational in the season opener. Aurilia went nine-under par for the tournament and boasted a 69 (-3) and 65 (-7) in his first two rounds of the season.
In his first season for the Trojans, Buchanan found his groove in his first few chances with the starting lineup. The freshman made his official debut at the Trinity Forest Invitational, starting his career with back-to-back rounds in the 60s, including the lowest round of the season (64). Buchanan ended tied for second, as he was 12-under par (204) – the lowest score by a USC freshman since Jamie Lovemark posted a 201 (-15) at the NCAA Championship West Regional in 2007. Buchanan boasts a stroke average of 72.26 – second on the team – and has two top-25 finishes this season.
During the nomination process, each team was given the opportunity to select one player who embodies a core value of sportsmanship. For USC, that player was Dumdumaya. The freshman was a late addition to the lineup in the latter part of the season but made an immediate impact with a stroke average of 72.89.
The Trojans will now head to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Tallahassee Regional, which will be held from Monday, May 12, through Wednesday, May 14, at the Seminole Legacy G.C.
