USC Women's Golf Tops Leaderboard on Day Two of Silverado Showdown
April 08, 2025 | Women's Golf
NAPA, Calif. – Junior Catherine Park utilized a four-under-par second round, as she is tied for second in the field and trails the leader by one stroke at five-under par for the tournament. USC as a squad leads after two rounds with scores of 290-286 (576, E) and holds a one-stroke lead over the rest of the competition after the second round on Tuesday, Apr. 8, at the Silverado C.C. & Resort.
The Trojans tied for the best round in the field, being two-under par as a squad, with two players under 72 for the day. USC holds a slight advantage over Iowa State, which is second at one-over par.
Fresh off a run at the Augusta National Women's Amateur, Park is hosting another run to try and reclaim the individual title she won at the Silverado Showdown a year ago. After two rounds of work, Park trails the leaders by one stroke as she was four-under par for the day. The junior only had one bogey on the day and used a three-under back nine to give her a 68 for the round. This is Park's eighth round in the 60s for the season.
Freshman Kylie Chong is continuing her success in this tournament. She has climbed 14 spots and is tied for 11th at even-par overall. Chong had a slow start to her second day, as she double-bogeyed the second hole and followed that with a bogey on No. 7. From No. 9, the freshman was four-under par with five birdies and one bogey. This is Chong's second round under par for the season.
The other freshman on the squad, Jasmine Koo dropped back a few spots into a tie for ninth as she ended her day one-over par and is one-under for the tournament. Like yesterday, Koo had more success on the front nine, as she was even-par (35) and one-over on the back nine (38).
Sophomore Bailey Shoemaker ended her second round two-over par and moved into a tie for 37th as she is six-over par this tournament. Shoemaker had four bogeys, one double and four birdies during the second day.
Senior Xin (Cindy) Kou was nine over par for the day, 15 over par for the tournament, and tied for 79th.
USC will tee off for the final round of the Chevron Silverado Showdown at 8:30 a.m. at the Silverado C.C. & Resort in Napa, Calif.
