KEY PLAYERS:
- Senior Maddie Dora made a statement early, scoring a hat trick within the first three minutes of the game. Dora would end the game with five goals total, pushing herself higher in the record books. At 64, she now has the third most goals in a season. Dora was the lone Trojan to score multiple goals, as four other USC players got on the board.
- USC saw three goalkeepers in the net, as freshman Charlotte Morton started the game and allowed nine goals with two saves. Sophomore Annie Shields came in with three minutes left in the first and stayed until the start of the third quarter, as she allowed four goals and had one save. Senior Mia Fleming was the last goalie in the net as she allowed seven goals without any saves.
- Defensively, the Trojans had three caused turnovers, with redshirt sophomore Hannah Barron having two. Barron also picked up three ground balls.
- Sophomore Anna Regan collected six draw controls, while senior Catherine Lord contributed three.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first couple minutes of the contest were a blur, as Michigan opened the game with a goal in the first 17 seconds. After that swift strike, the Trojans struck on their side as Dora scored one goal at 13:50, another at 13:09, and finalized her quickest hat trick of the season at 12:17. While the scoring would slow, the first quarter would play at even strength, as the Wolverines would tie the score and then the teams exchanged blows until it was 4-4 at the end of the first.
- In the second, USC netted the first goal to make it 5-4, and then all momentum went to Michigan. The Wolverines would score seven of the next eight, as Michigan rattled off seven goals in the second to make it 11-6 at the half.
- The story for the remainder of the game was Michigan's Jill Smith. She ended the game with eight goals and two assists, with the majority of the points coming before halftime and down the stretch. USC could not handle that offensive attack, as it was outscored 9-3 for the remainder of the game, ending it 20-9.

- USC is 0-1 now in the Big Ten Conference Tournament.
