April 21, 2025 | Men's Volleyball
Foley delivered a career-high six blocks with three solo stuffs in a 3-0 sweep of No. 2 UCLA
LOS ANGELES – USC men's volleyball freshman outside hitter Sterling Foley (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) was named the Molten/Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, April 21.
Â
The award is the first of Foley's career and is the eighth weekly honor claimed by a Trojan this season. Five different USC players have won the Molten/MPSF Defensive Player of the Week award including Dillon Klein (Jan. 27), Parker Tomkinson (Feb. 3), and Johnny Dykstra (March 17), and Caleb Blanchette (March 31) previously.
Â
Foley produced a career-high six blocks including three solo stuffs in a 3-0 sweep of No. 2 UCLA. He totaled 10 blocks (1.25 bps) through two matches against the Bruins and had seven digs (0.88 dps). He also scored 12 kills and had a service ace to average 2.44 points per set.
Â
The fifth-ranked Trojans (20-6, 8-4 MPSF) finished second in the MPSF's regular-season standings and earned the second seed in the upcoming championship tournament. By virtue of its seed, USC advances directly into the semifinal and will play an opponent still to be determined on Friday (April 25) at 8 p.m. PT. The match will be shown live on Big Ten Plus (B1G+). Should the Trojans advance, they would play in the MPSF championship match on Saturday (April 26) at 7:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
