April 13, 2025 | Men's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – The veterans made their mark for USC men's tennis (13-8, 7-4 Big Ten) on Sunday, Apr. 13, with the seniors leading the team to a 4-0 sweep of No. 21 Michigan (14-10, 8-4 Big Ten) at David X. Marks Stadium.
In their last home match of the season, the Trojans stormed out to a quick lead in doubles play. Two of the senior day honorees–graduate student Tristan Bradley and senior Peter Makk–shutout Michigan on doubles center court, improving to 16-4 as a pair. On court three, the new pairing of freshman Connor Church and sophomore Volodymyr Iakubenko won their second match of the season 6-4 to secure the doubles point.
Church stayed red-hot entering singles play, outpacing everyone en route to a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court five. The freshman is now 15-6 on the season and 6-2 in conference competition.
However, it was the seniors that brought the match to a close for USC, earning their final wins in front of their home crowd. Senior Karl Lee cruised to a 6-0, 6-2 victory on court four, putting the Trojans within one point of victory and improving to 16-4 on the season. Finally, it was No. 23 Makk who sealed the deal on center court 6-1, 6-2, capping an incredible home season where he led the Trojans from the top of the roster.
With the sweep, the Trojans improve to 13-8 on the season and 7-4 in conference play, keeping them in the mix as the postseason rapidly approaches. USC will have one final weekend of regular season competition on the road before they head to Ohio for the Big Ten tournament.
