USC Baseball Drops Series Finale to No. 10 Oregon, 5-3
March 09, 2025 | Baseball
IRVINE, Calif. – The USC baseball team was again unable to finish the comeback against No. 10 Oregon on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-3 to the Ducks after tying the game late.
USC falls to 9-6 overall and 0-3 in conference action with the loss. Oregon improves to 14-2, 3-0.
The Trojans again fell behind early, with Oregon taking a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning before USC was able to tie things up. Brayden Dowd hit a two-run shot to right after a leadoff walk by Richard Tejeda, then after a double steal put runners on second and third, Jack Basseer brought the tying run home with a groundout.
The tie score was short-lived, however, as Oregon got a leadoff home run from Mason Neville to open the seventh and later got an RBI-single from Jacob Walsh to make it 5-3.
USC loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom half of the seventh, but the Trojans were unable to come up with the big hit, a theme that haunted the home team all weekend. USC also had the tying run at the plate in the ninth, but a groundout and a strikeout ended the game.
