The two Trojans join senior Catherine Lord in the second addition of the Tewaaraton Watch List
WASHINGTON D.C. – USC redshirt senior attacker Isabelle Vitale (Lloyd Harbor, N.Y.) and senior attacker Maddie Dora (Milton, Ga.) were each added to the official watch for the 2025 Tewaaraton Award as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation on Thursday, Mar. 6. The two Women of Troy join senior defender Catherine Lord (Denver, Colo.), who was named to the initial list in February.
Players not named to the initial list will have opportunities to play their way into a spot as the season progresses. Vitale and Dora are among the first additions to the watch list.
The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are comprised of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation.
Several Trojans have advanced to be named to the list of Tewaaraton Award nominees. Claudia Shevitz earned a spot on the preseason list at the start of the 2024 season. Olivia Dooley was given a spot on the initial list in 2023. Kelsey Huff was on the watch list for three years (2019, 2021-22). Three-time All-American Michaela Michael received nominee status in 2017. Michael and All-American midfielder Amanda Johansen were the first Trojans to be named to the Tewaaraton Award's Watch List at the beginning of 2016. Michael and All-American defender Courtney Tarleton were named nominees at the end of that 2016 season. Michael, defender Lydia Sutton, and goalie Gussie Johns were each on the 2017 watch list. Johns and Sutton were on the initial 2018 watch list and were later joined by Kerrigan Miller, who was on the official watch list for three consecutive years (2018-20).
This season, Vitale leads the team in points (38) – fifth in the NCAA – and assists (24) – second in the NCAA. The redshirt senior has already had plenty of milestones, as she broke the USC program mark for career assists (vs. UC Davis), broke the single-game assist record with seven (vs. Colorado) and posted her 100th career goal (vs. Cal). Vitale joins the list after earning preseason accolades from numerous outlets, as she was a Big Ten Player to Watch and was named a USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American (Third Team).
While Vitale dishes out the passes, Dora has been the one to execute, as she leads the team in goals (31) – tied for second in the NCAA – and is second in points (34) – tied for eighth in the NCAA. The senior entered the year with seven career hat tricks and has already matched that total this season, as she has seven hat tricks in seven games. Dora earned her spot on the list, as she was a Big Ten Player to Watch, and followed that by winning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week (Feb. 18).
No. 24-ranked USC (6-1, 0-0 Big Ten) wraps up its nonconference season with a matchup against Marist at 1 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 14 at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif. The Trojans and the Red Foxes game will be streamed via B1G+.
