USC Baseball Falls 8-1 to No. 16 UC Santa Barbara

WESTCHESTER, Calif. – The USC baseball team dropped a non-conference contest to No. 16 UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday night at LMU, falling 8-1 to the Gauchos.
USC falls to 9-3 with the loss, while UCSB improves to 10-2.
The Trojan offense didn't get going until late, finally pushing a run across in the ninth inning, but it was too little too late. UCSB scored three in the first, added two in the fifth and bookended the performance with three more in the ninth.
The Trojans loaded the bases in the first, but a double play ended the threat. Maximo Martinez had a pinch-hit single in the ninth and Maddox Riske hit a pinch-hit double to bring him home for the Trojans lone run of the night.
Andrew Johnson and Jude Favela each had 2.0 scoreless innings on the mound for USC. Nathan Aceves picked up the win for the Gauchos with 5.0 scoreless frames.
