Jack Deuchar led all players with 20 kills in the Trojans’ four-set win over the Lopes
LOS ANGELES – The No. 3-ranked USC men's volleyball team (17-2, 5-0 MPSF) took down 13th-ranked Grand Canyon (14-7, 3-4) in four sets (25-17, 25-18, 17-25, 25-19) at Galen Center on Friday, March 28. The win extends the Trojans' streak to eight straight victories and has USC at 5-0 in MPSF conference play for the first time since 2015.

- Redshirt Sr. OPP Jack Deuchar put up his sixth match in double digits and led all players with 20 kills (2e, 30att) on .600 hitting to go with three blocks and a pair of digs.
- Jr. OH Dillon Klein racked up 18 kills (3e, 32att) and hit .469 to go with six digs, four blocks (one solo) and a service ace. It was his 15th time this season in double-digit kills (56th career).
- So. S Caleb Blanchette set the Trojans to their 17th match over .300 hitting (.439, 53k, 10e, 98att) as he dished out 41 assists to go with six digs and a pair of kills.
- Fr. OH Sterling Foley scored 13.0 points with six kills and a career-high five service aces, and three blocks (one solo).
- Gr. MB Guy Genis tallied three kills on six swings (.500) and led all players with five blocks (one solo).
- Fr. LIB Johnny Dykstra had a match-high eight digs.
- For the Lopes, Cole Ottmar had 14 kills, Trent Moser scored 11 kills, and Braeden Marquardt had 10 kills (1e, 12att) with .750 hitting. Jarrett Anderson scored six kills and led GCU with seven digs.
- USC hit better than .300 for the 17th time and finished with a .439 hitting rate (53k, 10e, 98att) to outperform the Lopes' .320 hitting (48k, 17att, 97att). USC also reached double-digit blocks (10.5) for the 10th time this season to out-block GCU (6.0). The Trojans also had more kills (53-48), digs (28-27), and service aces (6-3) than the Lopes.
- The score was tied nine times by the time the teams reached 10-all in the first set, but the Trojans sandwiched a kill by Klein with a pair of aces from Foley to take a four-point lead at 17-13. Klein led all players with 10 kills on just 13 swings (.769) and Deuchar added four more. Foley finished with three service aces as USC rolled to a 25-17 win. The Trojans hit .483 with 16 kills (2e) on 29 attacks to outpace the Lopes' .412 effort (9k, 2e) on 17 attempts.
- USC went in front, 2-0, with a 25-18 win in the second behind a .591 hitting performance (14k, 1e, 22att). Deuchar led the way this time with five kills on just six swings (.833). On defense, 4.5 USC blocks held the Lopes to a .077 hitting rate (8k, 6e) on 26 attacks. The Trojans racked up the win despite surrendering nine points on service errors.
- Grand Canyon held a wire-to-wire lead to take a 25-17 win in the third set. The Lopes racked up 20 kills with seven from Ottmar, five from Moser, and four from Marquardt and hit .643 (2e, 28att). Deuchar poured in five more kills in the third, but USC hit .333 with 11 kills (3e) on 24 swings.
- The Trojans claimed an early lead in the fourth and never trailed en route to a 25-19 win to close out the match. Deuchar racked up six more kills (1e, 10att, .500) and Klein had four (1e, 7att, .429) to help USC hit .348 in the fourth. The Trojans put up four more blocks—including one on match point—to hold GCU to a .154 hitting rate (11k, 7e, 26att).
- USC and Grand Canyon meet again on Saturday (March 29) for a 5 p.m. PT match at Galen Center. The match will be shown live on Big Ten Plus (B1G+).
- USC snapped a four-match losing streak to the Lopes and improved to 7-12 all-time against Grand Canyon.
- The Trojans collected their 10th win over a ranked opponent this season.
- USC hit over .300 (.439) for the 17th time in 19 matches.
- The Trojans' eight-match win streak is second-longest this season only to USC's 9-0 start to open the year.
- USC put up double-digit blocks in their 10th match this season (10.5).
