Trojans to face Penn State and No. 10 Ohio State
LOS ANGELES – After jumping up in the rankings this past week, No. 14 USC women's tennis hits the road to take on a pair of Big Ten Rivals in Penn State and Ohio State this weekend.
The Women of Troy are coming off a tough back-to-back home stand, where they swept Michigan State before narrowly falling to No. 5 Michigan. In the loss to Michigan, No. 69 junior Emma Charney picked up an impressive win against No. 34 Lily Jones, while No. 46 senior Grace Piper tied No. 3 Julia Fliegner in their unfinished third set. USC is now 9-3 on the season and 3-1 in conference play and has yet to lose a match on the road all season.
USC will look to bounce back in their first road match against Penn State on Friday. Penn State is 12-4 so far this season (3-3 in conference play) and is 8-0 so far at home. They are unranked and have no ranked players.
Following their match in University Park, the Women of Troy will travel to Columbus, to take on the No. 12 Buckeyes. Ohio State is 11-2 this season (5-1 in conference play) and is also undefeated thus far at home. USC will face a tough slate of ranked players as the Buckeyes have six ranked singles players, including No. 8 Luciana Perry and No. 35 Teah Chavez. Add to that one ranked duo with No. 15 Perry and Chavez and USC will need all of their weapons to get the win.
The Trojans first match against Penn State will take place on Friday, March 28 in University Park, Pennsylvania. First serve will take place at 12 p.m. PT. USC's match against Ohio State will take place on Sunday, March 30 at 9 a.m. PT.
