No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball Knocks Off No. 15 Hatters

The Trojans win their fourth straight dual and go 2-0 on the first day of the FAU Beach Invitational
POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The No. 4-ranked USC beach volleyball team (13-3) collected a 4-1 win over No. 15 Stetson (11-5) to go 2-0 on the Trojans' first day at the FAU Beach Invitational at Pompano Beach Pier on Saturday, March 15.
The Women of Troy have won four straight duals and move to 8-1 all-time against the Hatters. The Trojans also improve to 25-2 all-time in the state of Florida and to 32-5 when they play in the Eastern Time zone.
USC's top pair of sophomore Zoey Henson and junior Madison White put the Trojans on the board first with a 21-15, 21-8 win over Youna Coens and Grace Goudy. Henson-White improved to 11-3 overall and pushed their win streak to four matches.
The Trojans went in front, 2-0, with a win at the No. 2 position as freshman Kennedy Coakley and sophomore Ashley Pater collected a 21-12, 21-15 win over Katie Camp and Maria Ozaeta. Coakley and Pater pushed their streak to six wins and reached double digits at 10-2 overall.
The clinching point went up with a USC victory on court four where sophomores Madison Goellner and Kaileigh Truslow topped Madeline Camp and Julia Czurylo, 21-14, 21-17. In her first action since the opening weekend of the season, graduate Maya Gessner teamed with graduate Ella Larkin to take a 21-17, 21-18 win over Marta Carro and Julia Radelczuk for USC's fourth point. It was Gessner and Larkin's first time paired together.
The Hatters scored their only point in the only match to go three sets when Caroline De Olveira and Hanna Gubik took a 15-21, 21-18, 17-15 win over freshman Macy Bolyard and sophomore Kaylee Young at the No. 5 position. In a non-scoring exhibition match, sophomore Grace Hong and freshman Calinda Kok grabbed a 21-13, 21-14 win over Katelyn Carroll and Danielle Hernandez.
The Trojans are back in action to conclude their run at the FAU Beach Invitational on Sunday (March 16) with duals against 13th-ranked host Florida Atlantic (9-4) and No. 20 Georgia State (8-6) at the Pompano Beach Pier.
