March 14, 2025 | Track & Field
Stevenson sets USC and facility 60m dash record; 6 men and 4 women advance to event finals
JC Stevenson and Johnny Brackins Jr. scored in the men's long jump and six men and four women advanced to event finals during the first day of the 2025 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships being held at the Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Va. today (March 14). Stevenson also broke his school 60m dash record, broke the facility record and moved to tied for third on the NCAA all-time 60m dash list.
- The junior Stevenson placed sixth and senior Brackins Jr. eighth in the men's long jump to earn first-team NCAA Indoor All-America honors. Stevenson improved on each of his four legal jumps with a best leap of 25-8.25 (7.83m) in the sixth round. Brackins Jr. jogged over from the 60m hurdles semifinal and immediately had to take his sixth-round jump, which looked like his best of the day (25-2.00/7.67m) and would have moved him from eighth to seventh, but shortly after it was determined to be a foul. His best jump turned out to be his fourth-round mark of 24-10.00 (7.57m). Both athletes had to navigate running their other events during the competition, as Stevenson had to compete in the men's 60m dash semifinals earlier during the long jump competition. The pair teamed up to earn the USC men's team its first four points of the championships.
