Moritz Wesemann Wins USC's First Big Ten Diving Title

Trojans sit in fourth place heading into final day of conference championships.
MINNEAPOLIS – USC diver Moritz Wesemann won on 3-meter to highlight the third evening of competition for the Trojans at the 2025 Big Ten Conference Championships. Â
Wesemann captured USC's first ever Big Ten diving title (also USC's first men's individual conference title) on Friday evening, winning the 3-meter event with 426.75 points.  The competition came down to the wire as Wesemann tallied 81.90 points on his last dive to claim the event.Â
The afternoon opened with a pair of Trojans competing in the 3-meter diving consolation final. Shangfei Wang finished second with 348.45 points and Laurent Gosselin-Paradis was fourth with 338.75 points.Â
Michal Chmielewski opened the swim portion of finals, finishing seventh in the championship heat of the 100y fly as he clocked an NCAA B cut time of 45.44. Diego Balbi was eighth in the 100y fly bonus final in 47.19.
Trojan Krzysztof Chmielewski earned a bronze medal in the 400y IM, clocking a PR 3:40.57 as he touched third in the championship final.Â
USC finished sixth and eighth, respectively in the 200y freestyle as Oliver Sogaard-Andersen (1:33.81) and Luke Maurer (1:34.33) both earned spots on the podium. Ian Pickles won the bonus final of the 200y freestyle in 1:35.03.Â
Trojans Junhao Chan (51.56) and Ben Dillard (52.29) finished seventh and eighth, respectively in the championship final of the100y breaststroke. In the consolation final, Chris O'Grady was third in 52.54.Â
USC's Griffin O'Leary was second in bonus final of the 100y backstroke, touching in 47.16. Just one heat later, Michal Chmielewski returned to take second in the consolation final of the 100y back in 46.07.Â
The Trojans closed the evening with a season-best time in the 400y medley relay as M. Chmielewski, Chan, K. Chmielewski and Sogaard-Andersen combined for a 3:05.05 (NCAA B cut) to finish fifth.Â
Through three evenings of competition, USC sits in fourth with 588 points. Indiana leads the way with 1,067 points, followed by Michigan with 784.5 points and Ohio State in third with 731 points.Â
Action concludes tomorrow at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. Swim prelims are set to begin at 10 a.m. CST / 8 a.m. PST, with diving platform prelims set to begin at 12 p.m. CST / 10 a.m. PST. Finals will begin at 5:30 p.m. CST / 3:30 p.m. PST.Â
