
USC Swimming and Diving Downs UCLA, Texas A&M as Trojans Open 2025-26 Season

Trojans shine against top talent.
LOS ANGELES — The USC swimming and diving program made a powerful early-season statement at the Trojan Invitational, notching several event victories and standout performances against top national programs including Indiana, Texas A&M, and UCLA.
The Women of Troy continued their rise as a true contender in the Big Ten Conference, beating both No. 23 UCLA (245-107) and No. 25 Texas A&M (245-106), while narrowly falling to No. 9 Indiana, 190-162
The USC men split their results, defeating Texas A&M 197-155, but dropping match ups with Indiana (257-95) as the Hoosiers asserted their national No. 2 form.
 
USC junior Krzysztof Chmielewski set a new Uytengsu Aquatics Center pool record on Saturday, shattering Tom Shields' 2017 record in the 200y fly as he touched in 1:41.16 to claim the event. He was also second in the 500y freestyle (4:19.16).
Junior Minna Abraham and senior Claire Tuggle led the charge for the Women of Troy, each claiming multiple events. Abraham cruised to victory in the 500y free (4:40.78) and finished second in both the 100y free (48.34) and the 200y free (1:42.50), while Tuggle claimed the 1650y free (16:34.79) and posted a runner-up finish in the 500y free (4:47.90). Tuggle was also fourth in the 200y free (1:46.48).
Senior Justina Kozan added another victory to her storied Trojan career, taking the 200y IM (1:55.44) and the 400y IM (4:05.15). Freshman Bella Brito impressed in her USC debut, finishing third in the 50y freestyle (22.39) and second in the 100y breast (1:01.12).
In the relays, the USC women held their own, finishing second in the 400y medley relay (3:31.35), 200y free relay (1:29.38), 200y medley relay (1:37.72) and 400y free relay (3:14.06).
On the men's side, Michal Chmielewski stepped up for Troy, claiming the 100-yard butterfly (45.97) with one of the nation's top early-season times and finishing third in the 200y fly (1:42.14). Chmielewski was also fourth in the 100y back (45.66).
Sophomore Oliver Søgaard-Andersen proved himself as one of USC's top sprinters, finishing fifth in the 50y free (19.96) and fourth in both the 100y free (43.82) and 200y free (1:36.03).
In the diving well, 2024 Olympians Kate Miller and Moritz Wesemann led the Trojans, claiming a combined three events. Wesemann swept the competition, winning both the 1-meter (407.80) and 3-meter (382.10) diving events. Miller won the 3-meter competition (322.15) and was runner-up on 1-meter (285.75).
