USC Heads to San Diego for Double Dose of Action
February 26, 2025 | Men's Tennis
The Trojans will split time in San Diego, as they take on No. 7 San Diego and compete in the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships
LOS ANGELES – No. 21 USC men's tennis (6-3) is prepared for a mixture of events as it takes on No. 7 San Diego (10-2) at noon on Thursday, Feb. 27, in San Diego, Calif., and the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship from Feb. 27 through Mar. 2 in La Jolla, Calif.
The Trojans are playing their best tennis of the season as they are coming off a 4-3 victory against crosstown rival UCLA this past Saturday. USC hopes to use that momentum as it is set for its fourth-ranked matchup of the season and the 136th edition of the Pacific Coast Doubles Championships, which will start tomorrow.
USC enters the matchup against the Toreros with a three-match winning streak – UNLV, #25 Pepperdine and UCLA. San Diego has three singles players ranked in the top 100, including No. 4 Oliver Tarvet. On the doubles side, the Toreros have two ranked squads, including the No. 1 overall pairing of Tarvet and Stian Klaassen.
The Trojans will look for competitive weekends from their top singles players: No. 34 senior Peter Makk defeated the then-No. 4 ranked singles player earlier this season, while No. 82 freshman Nathan Trouve has catapulted himself into the national rankings with a series of ranked wins from the second court.
In the Pacific Coast Doubles Championship, the Trojans will be looking to improve upon last year's performance, where two Trojan pairings made it into the tournament's round of 16. This season, the center court pairing of Makk and graduate student Tristan Bradley leads the team with a record of 5-1.
First serve against San Diego starts at noon on Thursday, Feb. 27 at Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. Watch live HERE, and follow along HERE.
