USC’s Emily Ausmus Earns Third MPSF Newcomer of the Week Award

The freshman scored 13 goals for the Trojans at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational.
USC freshman Emily Ausmus has earned her third selection as MPSF Newcomer of the Week honor after stretching her goal scoring streak to 15 games for the 14-1 Trojans.
Ausmus was USC's top scorer at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational with 13 goals, while also adding four assists, three steals and two drawn exclusions as USC took second place at the event. In group play, Ausmus matched her career high with six goals in a 30-5 win over Biola, and then recorded a hat trick in a 15-7 win over No. 8 Long Beach State.
In the semifinals vs. No. 5 Hawai'i, she had another hat trick and added three assists for the Trojans in their 14-7 win to advance to the title match. There, Ausmus scored one goal and drew two exclusion in USC's 10-6 loss to No. 1 Stanford. She has now scored in all 15 of USC's games this season.
Ausmus and the Trojans have a doubleheader on tap this weekend with work at the Convergence Tournament, where USC visits Pomona-Pitzer for an 11:30 a.m. game followed by a meeting with Marist at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday (March 1) in Claremont, Calif.
