Brackins Jr. Earns Second Big Ten Indoor Track Weekly Honor

Senior breaks his USC 60m hurdles record

USC hurdler Johnny Brackins Jr. was named Big Ten Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week today (Feb. 19), after setting the school 60m hurdles record last weekend.

The senior Brackins Jr. won the men's 60m hurdles at the Tiger Paw Invitational on Feb. 14 with a school-record time of 7.48, tied for the sixth-fastest collegiate performer all-time in the event and tied for the 2025 NCAA lead. He also ran 7.52 in the semifinals, giving him three of the four top NCAA 60m hurdles times this season.

The Bowerman Watch List athlete earned his first Big Ten weekly honor when he was named Co-Track Athlete of the Week on Jan. 22, as he originally set the USC 60m hurdles record with a time of 7.49 at the Spokane Sports Showcase on Jan. 17.

Brackins Jr. will compete this weekend at the USATF Indoor Championships in the 60m hurdles. Last year, Brackins Jr. won the USA indoor long jump title with a school-record jump of 27-0.00 (8.23m).
