THIS WEEK: The USC baseball team plays a pair of midweek contests this week, heading to UC Irvine on Tuesday and then hosting CSU Bakersfield on Wednesday at LMU. The Trojans are coming off of an opening weekend sweep over George Washington.

OPENING WEEKEND: The Trojans picked up an opening weekend sweep of George Washington to start the 2025 campaign this past week. The Trojans scored 10 runs in the first inning to take Friday's contest 15-2, then hit four homers on Saturday en route to a 9-8 victory. USC trailed for the first time all weekend on Sunday, but erased a 5-0 deficit, getting a go-ahead three-run homer from Brayden Dowd in the sixth inning to take the finale, 7-5.

2025 HOME GAMES: For the second season in a row, USC will play the majority of its home games at Great Park in Irvine due to construction on the new Dedeaux Field, which is scheduled to be completed prior to the 2026 season. Most midweek games will be held at LMU. All USC home games this season will be free and open to the public. For more information visit USCTrojans.com/baseballgameday.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS UCI: The Trojans and Anteaters have played 76 times since 1970, with UCI holding a 40-36 advantage in the series. USC took both meetings last year, however, winning 12-5 and 12-4 in a pair of midweek contests. The teams are slated to play twice again this season.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS CSUB: USC is 6-1 all-time against the Roadrunners since the teams first played in 2010. The Trojans won the last meeting in 2023, 12-8 at home.

OPENING WEEKEND NOTES:
- Ethan Hedges started all three games at third base on opening weekend, while also recording saves on the mound the last two games. At the plate, he went 6-for-13 (.462) with a double, triple and homer. He also scored and drove in five runs. On the mound, he retired all six batters he faced, striking out three. The two relief appearances were the first of the junior's career.
- Kevin Takeuchi recorded multiple hits in all 3 games this past weekend, leading USC with 8 total knocks (8-for-14, .571). He had 3 hits apiece in the opening two contests, and 2 in the finale, while also driving in 4 runs and scoring 5. Takeuchi had a double, a triple, a walk and a HBP as well.
- Kade Higgins, a grad transfer from UNLV, had a 4-for-4 game with 2 homers on Saturday and finished the weekend with 6 total hits, good for second on the team. Higgins' OPS for the weekend was 1.583.
- Bryce Martin-Grudzielanek batted .500 (4-for-8) this past weekend and recorded a team-high 5 walks. His .643 OBP and 6 runs scored led the squad.
- Adrian Lopez, a sophomore transfer from LBSU, hit the first home run of the season for USC, with a grand slam in the first inning on Saturday. Lopez had 8 homers for the Dirtbags last year.
- Caden Hunter, a junior transfer from Sierra College, got the opening day start on the mound for USC, giving up one run in 4.1 innings of work. The lefty struck out the first 3 batters he faced and finished with 6 total strikeouts.
- USC's 4 homers on Saturday were more than any game last season.
- The Trojans' opening weekend sweep was the second in three years under Head Coach Andy Stankiewicz.
- As a team, USC slashed .355/.450/.607.
