February 14, 2025 | Women's Tennis
LOS ANGELES – No. 15 USC women's tennis dominated in its return to action Friday afternoon, cruising to a 7-0 victory over the University of San Diego Toreros at David X. Marks Stadium.
The Women of Troy showed zero signs of fatigue in doubles play as junior Emma Charney and senior Parker Fry landed the first hit with a 6-0 sweep on court three. The No. 8 ranked duo of senior Grace Piper and sophomore Lily Fairclough followed quickly behind, winning 6-1 on center court to secure the doubles point. Play was suspended on court two with senior Sloane Morra and freshman Jana Hossam leading USD 4-2.
A late scratch forced San Diego to forfeit the match on singles court six, giving USC its second point of the day. No. 44 Piper continued in fine form and took the third point of the match with a 6-0, 6-1 victory on center court. No. 81 ranked Hossam clinched the dual with a straight-set victory on court four.
With the match already decided, the Women of Troy won out on the remaining courts: graduate Maia Sung on court five and No. 46 Charney on court two won their respective matches in straight sets, while sophomore No. 59 Immi Haddad battled through a third set tie-break to bring home the sweep on court three.
With the win, the Women of Troy improve to 4-1 on the season. Next, they will face off against the Cal Golden Bears on Friday, February 21 at 1:30 p.m.
