The Trojans secured decisive 3–0 victories over Vanguard and UCSD to build momentum for UCLA Fall Tournament

LOS ANGELES – The USC men's volleyball team hosted UCLA, UCSD, and Vanguard for the second weekend of the USC Fall Invitational, finished the day undefeated (2-0) at Galen Center Pavilion on Saturday, Nov 15.

USC opened the morning with a commanding performance against Vanguard, controlling the tempo early and never letting up. The Trojans swept the Lions, 25-15, 25-16, 25-18.

In their second match of the day, the Trojans squared off against UCSD. The Tritons challenged USC in a competitive first set, but the Men of Troy stormed back and rolled through sets two and three to complete another sweep, 25-22, 25-18, 25-17.

USC returns to action this weekend at the UCLA Fall Tournament at Pauley Pavilion, where the Trojans will take on CSUN, Masters, and cross-town rival UCLA.

Last year, the Trojans went 21-7 in the regular season, finished second in the MPSF standings (8-4), and were awarded the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament. There, USC finished as runner-up to Pepperdine, which hosted the championship in Malibu, Calif. USC opened the year with a nine-match win streak for its best start to a season since 1991 (28-0) and won 10 matches in a row (Feb. 26-April 3) for the program's longest win streak since 2012 (18 in a row). It was the second 20-win season for head coach Jeff Nygaard and the 20th 20-win season in program history. The Trojans spent 13 weeks ranked in the top five and reached as high as No. 3 for the team's highest ranking since it was also No. 3 in 2015.
