No. 2 USC Women's Golf Finishes Stroke Play In Second Place At East Lake Cup
October 27, 2025 | Women's Golf
Sarah Hammett led the Trojans by going even through nine holes.
ATLANTA – No. 2 USC Women's Golf concluded the first day of the East Lake Cup in second place, with the team finishing three strokes over par in tough conditions.
After a significant rain delay caused stroke play to be condensed to nine holes, the Trojans played the back nine, with the team scores deciding the seeding for match play. They finished in second place, just three strokes behind Oregon.
Sarah Hammett had the best performance for USC. She remained steady through her round, registering a birdie and a bogey. This caused her to go even on the day and finish tied for third place. This is the first time in her young career that she contributed the lowest round for the Trojans.
Kylie Chong, Jasmine Koo and Elise Lee all ended stroke play going one over par, which made them all tied for sixth. Park was one stroke behind her teammates, registering a score of two over par for these nine holes.
With their second-place finish, USC earned the second seed for the first of two match play rounds. They will head into tomorrow's semifinal against the third seed, Northwestern University. They went 10-over as a team during stroke play. The winner of this match will go on to face the winner of first-seeded Oregon and fourth-seeded Florida State on Wednesday.
