Three Trojans placed in the top 10 out of 62 finishers
FULLERTON, Calif. – The USC cross country team earned their best team finish since 2023 with a second-place finish Friday at the John Elders Titan Invite. Sydney Knodel and Jacqueline Duarte worked their way up the course to finish second and third, respectively.
Sydney Knodel shined once again in her second appearance for the Trojans. The senior came through the first split in fifth place but would chase down runners ahead for the silver-medal finish.
Jacqueline Duarte wasn't too far behind finishing in third place in 21:53.4. Her race plan served her well as the redshirt senior moved from 18th place at the 2K mark up to fifth place in a matter of 10 minutes.
Haley Spoden also found success in attacking the runners ahead, moving from 14th place at 2K to a 10th place finish with a time of 22:39.5.
Isabella Duarte came in next for the Trojans in 23:09.2, moving up into 17th place by the finish. The strongest team showing of the season wrapped up with Lucia Rabolli coming in 31st place with a time of 24:46.6.
With the second place finish, the Women of Troy recorded their best team placement under new coach Brenda Martinez. The Trojans last claimed a second place team finish on Sept. 1, 2023 at the LMU South Bay Twilight Meet.
USC will prepare for the Big Ten Championships in East Lansing, Michigan next week. The women's 6K is set for a 8:35 a.m. PT start on Friday with live stats available here. More information will be made available on usctrojans.com or @usc_track_field on Instagram and X.
