USC Men's Volleyball's Dillon Klein and Parker Tomkinson Garner MPSF/Molten Weekly Awards

LOS ANGELES – USC men's volleyball junior outside hitter Dillon Klein (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Loyola HS) was chosen as the MPSF/Molten Defensive Player of the Week and freshman middle blocker Parker Tomkinson (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, Jan. 27.

Trojans swept both the offensive and defensive awards—something they also did on Feb. 12, 2024—for the third time since March 7, 2022. Last year, USC players won four total awards, two offensive and two of the defensive variety.

This week, Klein and Tomkinson helped USC to a four-set win over 15th-ranked CSUN. It was the Trojans' second win over a top-20 opponent and pushed USC to a 5-0 mark for the third time in the last four seasons (2022, '24). Klein racked up a career-high nine blocks in the win and finished with 22.5 points earned on those blocks, one service ace, and 17 kills with .351 hitting. Tomkinson set new career highs in kills (13), attacks (17), blocks (7), digs (4) and points (17.0) and hit .706 in the victory.

Sixth-ranked USC (5-0) heads to the Midwest for three matches this week. First, the Trojans take on Central State (0-3) on Wednesday (Jan. 29) at Beacom/Lewis Gym in Wilberforce, Ohio. A win over the Marauders would move USC to 6-0 for the first time since it started the season 7-0 in 2015. The Trojans then take on No. 13 Ohio State (3-3) and No. 17 Penn State (0-4) in the Big Ten Challenge at Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio. USC meets the Buckeyes on Friday (Jan. 31) at 7 p.m. ET (4 p.m. PT) and then concludes the trip against the Nittany Lions on Saturday (Feb. 1) at 4 p.m. ET (1 p.m. PT).
