Trojan Alumnae Kait Devir and Erin Bakes Named to California Palms Inaugural Roster

LOS ANGELESÂ - Two former USC women's lacrosse athletes have been named to the inaugural roster of the Women's Lacrosse League, the league announced Thursday, Jan. 23.

Kait Devir (2022-24) and Erin Bakes (2019-2021) will represent the Trojans in the league's inaugural season as they join the California Palms' official roster. Devir and Bakes stay close to home as they return to California to join the 12-player roster.

In Fall 2024, the Premier Lacrosse League launched the WLL, a new professional league featuring some of the world's best women's lacrosse players. The league is set to debut at the 2025 Maybelline Championship Series.

The WLL is composed of four inaugural teams—Boston Guard, California Palms, Maryland Charm, and New York Charging—with 12 players on each roster. The league will play in the Sixes format, the style of lacrosse that will be played at the 2028 Olympic Games.
