January 14, 2025 | Women's Soccer
LOS ANGELES – After a stellar senior campaign in which she led USC to a Big Ten Title and earned All-Big Ten Tournament recognition, Aaliyah Farmer has signed a professional contract to play with Tigres UANL in Liga MX.
Farmer was a standout holding midfielder for the majority of the 2024 season and also played some defender for the USC women's soccer team as she helped the Trojans post their best winning percentage in program history (.870) and earn their first ever No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
With Farmer leading the charge, USC posted 11 shutouts on the year and held opponents to 0.83 goals per game. The senior midfielder appeared in all 23 games for the Trojans, making 19 starts and playing a total of 1,729 minutes, which was good for third on the team and second among field players. She played a full 90+ minutes nine times, including playing every minute of both the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments.
Farmer was also a potent offensive threat, dishing out three assists and scoring one goal during her senior season. For her career, Farmer played all over the field for the Trojans, compiling nine goals and nine assists over the course of her four years at Troy. She produced her highest offensive output during her sophomore season in 2022, scoring five goals and recording one assist while serving mainly as a forward for USC. The Tustin, Calif. native appeared in 80 total games for her career and made 63 starts, with a total of 5,727 minutes logged on the pitch.
Located in the city of San Nicolás de los Garza, Tigres UANL is one of the founding clubs of Liga MX Femenil, which started in 2016, and are the most successful club in the history of the league, winning a total of six titles. Farmer joins a club that finished runners-up to rivals C.F. Monterrey in the last league tournament. She is one of two players born in the United States listed on the Tigres roster.
Farmer is the third Trojan to sign a professional contract so far this offseason, with Brooklyn Courtnall signing with the NC Courage and Helena Sampaio signing with BK Hacken.
