USC Men’s Basketball Announces 2024-25 Nonconference Schedule
September 09, 2024 | Men's Basketball
LOS ANGELES – The USC men's basketball team announced its 2024-25 nonconference schedule on Monday, Sept. 9, and will feature an ambitious slate of games. The Trojans are set to play four contests against 2023-24 NCAA Tournament teams, nearly a quarter of their nonconference schedule.
The USC hoops program, under first-year head coach Eric Musselman, features a revamped roster that includes 12 new scholarship players and 16 first-year Trojans overall.
The Trojans' nonconference slate features a potential seven of 11 contests against teams that finished over .500, including five games with teams that won more than 20 games last year. Four of USC's opponents—Grambling, Saint Mary's College, New Mexico, and Montana State—won their respective conference tournaments.
USC will play all of its nonconference games in the state of California and hosts nine contests at the Galen Center this fall.
The Trojans will open the season by squaring off with Southern Conference opponent UT Chattanooga (21-12, 12-6) at the Galen Center on Nov. 4.
Big Sky opponent Idaho State (12-20, 7-11) will be the Trojans' next contest at home on Nov. 7. USC continues the homestand as host to WAC team UT Arlington (20-14, 13-7) on Nov. 13.
USC will next face familiar foe California (12-19, 9-11) on Nov. 17 as the Trojans and the Bears kick off a home-and-home series. USC will play in Berkeley at a later date to be determined. With more than 250 games played against one another, USC and Cal will go head-to-head as nonconference opponents for the first time since 1921.
USC will wrap a six-game Galen Center homestand with a Nov. 24 contest against Grambling State.
Next, Troy travels south to Palm Desert for a first-round game as part of the Acrisure Classic where it faces Saint Mary's College at Acrisure Arena on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28 at 6:00 p.m. . The next day, the Trojans face either Arizona State (14-18, 8-12) or New Mexico (26-10, 10-8).
The Trojans conclude the nonconference slate with three games at home. First, USC will play 2024 Big Sky tournament champion Montana State (17-18, 9-9) at Galen Center on Dec. 15. Then, USC hosts CSUN (19-15, 9-11) of the Big West at home on Dec. 18.
USC's nonconference schedule concludes with a Dec. 22 contest at Galen Center against Southern University (18-14, 12-6).
Game times and television/streaming designations for USC's 2024-25 nonconference slate will be announced at later dates.
