2024-25 Big Ten Conference Schedule Is Set For USC Women’s Basketball
September 19, 2024 | Women's Basketball
The Women of Troy are ready for their Big Ten Conference debut season.
USC women's basketball has its Big Ten Conference slate locked in place for 2024-25 with the conference's release of the full schedule today (Sept. 19).
The Women of Troy are set to host a competitive lineup of Big Ten teams at Galen Center and will challenge the remaining opponents on the road. USC also has a home-and-away series against crosstown rival UCLA on tap. The Trojans will face two programs — Illinois and Wisconsin — for the first time, while other matchups offer the first visits to Galen Center for several Big Ten foes as well as the Trojans' first trips to several road venues.
As it steps into the Big Ten Conference, USC is coming off its first NCAA Elite Eight run since 1994 and its second Pac-12 Tournament championship. Grad transfers Kiki Iriafen and Talia Von Oelhoffen are joining fellow All-Pac-12 honorees Rayah Marshall and JuJu Watkins for a 2024-25 Trojan team that also boasts the top-ranked freshman class in the nation in Rian Forestier, Kayleigh Heckel, Avery Howell, Vivian Iwuchukwu, Brooklyn Shamblin, Kennedy Smith and Laura Williams. Last season, USC posted wins over future Big Ten opponents Ohio State and Penn State in the Trojans' historic 29-6 season, which saw head coach Lindsay Gottlieb named a finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award and Watkins selected a Naismith finalist as well as the winner of National Freshman of the Year awards.
USC's Big Ten slate kicks off early against a familiar foe on a trip to Eugene to take on Oregon on Dec. 7. Former Pac-12 Conference teams, this will mark the first matchup between the Trojans and the Ducks as Big Ten members.
The first-ever Big Ten women's basketball clash at Galen Center will feature a matchup against Michigan on Dec. 29, followed by a meeting with Nebraska on New Year's Day. USC takes its first-ever Big Ten road trip next, visiting Rutgers and Maryland in an East Coast swing with games on Jan. 5 and 8.
USC returns to Galen Center for a clash with Penn State, which the Trojans beat in a heated battle last season in the Bahamas. Now Big Ten Conference-mates, the Nittany Lions will be playing in Galen Center for the first time in their Jan. 12 meeting at USC. And on Jan. 15, another Big Ten foe will make its Galen Center debut when Nebraska comes to town, marking the first clash of the 21st century between the Trojans and the Huskers.
The Trojans play their next two conference opponents in the state of Indiana — the first time USC will face both Indiana and Purdue on their respective home courts with games on Jan. 19 and 22, respectively.
Big Ten Conference play comes back to Galen Center for a one-game stand against Minnesota on Jan. 30. From there, USC will make its way back to the Midwest for its first-ever competition at Iowa and at Wisconsin in the first week of February.
USC's next Big Ten home stand brings a pair of fellow 2024 NCAA Tournament teams to town in February. Ohio State is lined up for its first visit to Galen Center on Feb. 8, and then rival UCLA makes its familiar trek across town for a Crosstown Showdown on Feb.13.
USC will then make a quick trip up the coast to take on Washington on Feb. 19 before returning to Galen Center for the Trojans' final Big Ten home stand against Michigan State (Feb. 19) and Illinois (Feb. 23).
The regular season concludes with USC paying a visit to Pauley Pavilion for its highly anticipated second game against the Bruins on March 1.
Postseason play kicks off in Indianapolis as USC will engage in its Big Ten Tournament debut. The conference tourney runs March 5-9 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Television selections and tip times are yet to be announced and will be listed on the USC women's basketball schedule page when finalized.
