No. 25 USC Women's Soccer Shuts Out Purdue, 1-0
September 19, 2024 | Women's Soccer
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The No. 25 USC women's soccer team picked up its second Big Ten win in as many games on Thursday night, taking down Purdue 1-0 thanks to an early goal from Faith George.
The Trojans, who still have yet to play a home game, move to 6-1-1 overall and 2-0-0 in Big Ten play with the victory. Purdue falls to 5-3-1, 1-1-0 with the loss.
It took just over four minutes into the game for USC to strike, getting a goal from George and assists from Kayla Colbert and Hannah Griffin to take the early lead on the road. Purdue got off just two shots in the first half.
Chances were hard to come by in the second half as both defenses held serve. USC had a 10-4 shots advantage after holding the home team to a pair of shots in both halves. It was the fourth shutout of the season for Laurence Gladu in goal, as she made 3 saves to pick up her sixth win overall.
